Author inspires JK/SK students

Author and Illustrator Josephine Vaccaro-Chang shared her wonderful story, “We Are Colourful Friends”, with our Kindergarten class.¬† The students truly enjoyed the presentation as they had the opportunity to re-enact the story through the use of colourful puppets prepared by Josephine herself.¬† This enriching experience motivated the students in our class to create their very own storybooks and puppets.¬† Thank you, Josephine, for inspiring our students!!¬† We look forward to future workshops with you!!

Introducing–Gigi (sculpture)

Here’s a picture of my new sculpture. Her name is Gigi and she is based on the image of the giraffe from my book titled, “We Are Colourful Friends”.

THANK YOU to all my colourful friends at the Richmond Hill’s Community & Cultural department for your generous grant. Your support made it possible to bring Gigi to life.

There are 11 characters in my book and I have completed 7 sculptures. Once I complete the other 4 sculptures my goal is to have an exhibition at The Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts.

If booking a JK/SK interactive workshop at your school or library you can now choose to have Gigi the pink giraffe visit your class instead of Ruby the red flamingo.

Finally, thank you to everyone that helped me pick Gigi’s name. I think it really suits her.

Congratulations!!!

Ruby_We Are Colourful Friends_02.03.2016

Thank you to everyone that participated in our draw at The Feast of Ages on July 31st, 2016 in Uxbridge. ¬† Congratulations to Elayne Bassett, Elisabeth Chomko & Lindsay Fung! ¬†You won an interactive workshop for a JK/SK class or grade 1 class. ¬†The workshop includes reading the book titled, “We Are Colourful Friends” using hand-held puppets, acting out the pages of the book and creating a collage. ¬†As a follow-up activity, children will receive colouring sheets.

The class will be visited by Ruby.  A six foot tall red flamingo.  She has a tiara, necklace and fancy high heels just like the character in the book.
